Anderton Nature Park - My Pictures - free pictures and image sharing

Anderton Nature Park is situated in the small village of Anderton near Northwich in Cheshire, and is home to the historic Anderton Boat Lift which re-opened in 2002 after an extensive period of restoration.

Cheshire County Council's Land Regeneration Unit firstly reclaimed Marbury Country Park in 1975, and in 1987 more land was reclaimed from Furey Wood and later Anderton Nature Park, and then the areas known as Witton Flash, Dairy House Meadow, Witton Mill Meadows, Uplands Woodland, Hopyards Wood and Ashton's & Neumanns's Flashes were reclaimed. The area now has been turned from a derelict wasteland into a wildlife haven and you will find many rare wild flowers and grasses growing in the area.

There are now miles of pathways just a few hundred yards from the town centre. Access can be made via Carey Park to

Marbury Country Park, Anderton Boat Lift, Great Budworth, just to name a few.

Carey Park is named after former councillor Ron Carey. Carey Park was opened in 2003 and is situated on the former Witton landfill site in Northwich, the park is only a short distance from the town centre and is accessible through a set of two gates the Ladybird gates on Leicester Street and the Butterfly gates on Marbury Lane, access to Anderton Boat Lift and Marbury Country Park can both be made through Carey park.

Take a stroll along one of the pathways adjacent to the River Weaver and you will come to Carden's Ferry Bridge, or take a walk up to the viewing area, which overlooks the town centre and beyond.
