Concorde 001 made it's first flight from Toulouse on the 2nd of March 1969, it's first supersonic flight was on the 1st of October 1969
Concorde’s last commercial flight was on the 24th of October 2003
In total 20 Concorde’s were built between 1966 and 1979
Concorde measures 204 feet in length and can stretch between 6 and 10 inches in flight due to the heating of the airframe
The wingspan is 83 feet 8 inches in length, and it stands at 37 feet 1 inch high. Concorde’s distinctive nose cone can be adjusted to provide the pilot with a better a view when landing and taking-off
Concorde has 4 specially designed Senecma Olympus 593s Rolls Royce engines that give more than 38000 lbs of thrust each, they are the most powerful commercial jet engines available
Concorde takes off at 250 mph, has a cruising speed of 1350 mph, (that’s more than twice the speed of sound) and flies at an altitude of 60,000 feet (that’s more than 11 miles)
More than 2.5 million passengers have flown with British Airways Concorde since it entered commercial service in 1976

The Boeing 747 is with out doubt one of the worlds most recognisable commercial aircraft
Boeing launched it's 747 programme in 1966 when Pan Am ordered 25 of these wide bodied jets
The 747 has many variants but the information below refers to the 747-400 series (pictured opposite)
The Boeing 747-400 was lunched in October 1995
The Boeing 747-400 has a typical cruising speed of 565 mph, a cruising altitude of 32,900 feet, and a range of over 8,000 miles
It has wingspan of 211 feet 5 inches, It's lengh is 231 feet 10 inches, a hight of 63 feet 8 inches, and a wing area of 5,825 sq feet
